Fragments of Nostalgia is a retrospective of Phan Tuan Ngoc’s treatment of his memories delivered through desaturated colours, playful minimalism, and poetry. His journey from starkly coloured Van Gogh-esque pieces to minimalistic ink wash arrives into a sense of maturity in the piece Flow of Time. In this work, Phan was able to restrain himself and allowed his subjects to speak for themselves. He became the messenger, and this is the window we will look forward to in the artist’s future works.
